L. Establish that this method is emulating general division method of straight division, we intend to discuss in a later video
[
i. It seems that 2-step division is one of those skipped over details, allowed in VM. With 2-step division identified, we can introduce Math into Nikhilam Method of division:
ii. Instead of drawing a line to the left of 3 digits, we can divide the dividend by 1000, the first division. The former seems like a trick or magic and later is Math.
iii. Instead of bringing down a dividend digit to the quotient line, we can divide dividend digit by 1, the second division, to get a quotient digit.
iv. Bringing down the dividend digit does not work in cases of proportional base numbers. Dividing by 2nd division still works.
v. Establishing that this method emulates straight division, we should be able to use this method for any general division. In some cases, straight division would be easier to implement.
